Bagby Beer Company was one of the most anticipated brewpub projects in San Diego. That’s a big deal considering this county is home to the mighty Pizza Port empire, from which Bagby transitioned in opening his eponymous Oceanside interest. So, it’s only fitting that the business’ grand opening be a big deal, as well. Enter, Bagbyfest, an event the brewer-turned-entrepreneur says is “unlike any beer festival ever.”
Taking place from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, BagbyFest will, of course, feature craft beer. Naturally, that will include Bagby brews as well as breweries that have special relationships with owners Jeff and Dande Bagby and their brewpub. Those ales will be paired with food from the venue’s kitchen staff. But that’s not all those cooks will be pushing out on the line. A multitude of other edible offerings developed with pairing in mind will be on the menu and presented as go-withs for wines and spirits.
Vino and spirit tastings will take place throughout Bagby Beer’s two-story property, which includes a spacious outdoor bar, covered outdoor patio, and a thoroughfare separating the brewhouse from the main bar (which will remain open during the event). This will be the second festival for the brewpub, which hosted the well-attended Brewbies charity fest last month. Tickets, which include a tasting glass, pours, and pairings, are on sale now.
