Steph Johnson and Rob Thorsen play in duo at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) from 6 until 9:30 p.m. No cover charge… The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, featuring Phylicia Barron on vocals, hang at the Hideout (3519 El Cajon Boulevard). Free admission… The Real Jazz Big Band performs at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion Stage from 6 p.m. Free.

Wednesday 1
The Jazz 88 Blues Jam heats up at Proud Mary’s (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) at 6:30 p.m. Free… Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos hosts the Latin Jazz Jam Session at Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue) with Irving Flores, Rob Thorsen, and Mike Holguin at 9 p.m. 21+, no cover.
