One San Diego lawyer has been disbarred and two have been suspended by the California State Bar.
Joseph James Rego of San Diego (now living in Joshua Tree) has been disbarred for collecting advanced fees for loan-modification services, holding himself out as entitled to practice law when he was suspended, committing an act involving moral turpitude, and not serving his clients fairly, including failure to return unearned fees.
Robert James Winkler of Escondido has been suspended from the practice of law for one year and placed on four years of probation. Among other things, he committed an act involving moral turpitude by misappropriating client funds, said the bar.
Alexander Warren Tucker of El Cajon was suspended for two years and put on probation for three years for not informing a client that he had been suspended for a prior matter. Tucker, who had health problems, failed to submit timely quarterly reports to the bar's office of probation.
