Angler Michael Ryan with a 193-pound *Yellowfin Tuna* that he caught on January 9.

The Excel is done at the Hurricane Bank and fishing their way home.

Still waiting for a report from Tanner and Cortez Banks. I'm sure that warm 66 degree water is still holding Tuna.

Sculpin, AKA "California Scorpionfish" are back on the menu as of January 1, so keep them if you want to eat them. The US Bluefin Tuna limit will go down from 10 fish to 2 fish in February. There are still some north of the border and I know of a few boats usually working the Colinett area for Yellowtail and big Lingcod this time of year that are instead going out to take a look, at least until the limit change. These trips will be a little cheaper as the added 40.00 Mexican visa won't be necessary. Check all the landings between San Diego and LA, I'm sure you'll be able to find a 1.5 day weekend ride to the area.

The bugs seem to be thinning out a bit, with the 10 to1 ratio of legal-sized Lobster going up to about 17 to 1 for the hoop-netters.
