Tangled in the pier

— HP was called to a vessel adrift near the main shipping channel by the A-3 Anchorage (Laurel Street). HP responded and located the small sailboat that had broken away from its mooring ball within the A-3. HP towed the vessel back to its mooring.

— Lifeguards respond to a 32 yr old surfer tangled in the pier. Medics evaluate patient after rescue for possible transport.

— Lifeguards respond to glider port for a glider crash at Blacks Beach. Fire and Medics respond. Medics handle patient.

— Lifeguards respond to vessel adrift in Mission Bay. Vessel in question is anchored at bow and stern. Lifeguards clear.

— Lifeguards respond to Sunset Cliffs for a person who has fallen off the cliff. Fire and Medics respond as well. Lifeguards and Medics perform CPR until patient is pronounced at scene. Lifeguards perform 5 evolutions with Rescue-44 including the 11-44.

— SDPD received a call of a 19 year old male who is depressed and at La Jolla Cove with a friend. The friend used the restrooms and when he came back the man was gone and his shoes were left wet by the shoreline. 3 Sam, 3 Lincoln, unit 36, 2 Charles and “able all” respond for a search of the shoreline for clues. After a few hours the call is called off after determining that the man most likely did not go into the water.

— Diesel fuel slick on the water at the Mission Bay Marina C-142. Marine 1 responds to find vessel Bulldog at Driscoll’s CL 5071 GE to have fuel in the bilge. Marine 1 foams the vessel and impounds it to our impound buoy. Unable to contact the owner and the dock master is up in Newport until after the holiday.

— Seaforth dock master calls to report an unresponsive male, possible stroke patient at slip E-22. A lifeguard rescue vessel, 4-Sam, E-20 and M-20 respond. M-20 transports the patient to UCSD.

12/22

— Swimmer in distress off of Tower 4 in Ocean Beach. 27 Y/o female. Victim left all clothing on beach. PWC, 1Sam, Rescue Vessel, Engine 15, Medic 22 and SDPD respond. PWC effects rescue and SDPD transports Female to CMH.

12/21 Harbor Police were called to investigate a dinghy that was stolen from the Americas Cup Harbor.

— Harbor Police and the USCG were called to investigate a diesel spill at Sunroad Marina on Harbor Island.

— Harbor Police were called to investigate a burglary that occurred aboard a vessel in the Harbor Island Marina.

— Harbor Police assisted a boater that ran out of gas and was adrift within the path of the oncoming Parade of Lights. HPD towed the vessel to a nearby dock.

— HPD recovered a dinghy that was adrift near Zuniga Jetty because it was a hazard to navigation.

— HPD recovered a dinghy adrift in Sunroad Marina because it was a hazard to navigation.

— HPD investigated an accident between two small boats near the Midway Museum. There was minor damage to the boats but no injuries.

— HPD issued a citation to a boater near the U.S. Coast Guard station for not having proper registration.

— HPD responded to a disturbance call within the Americas Cup Harbor which evolved into a vandalism report.

— HPD responded and assisted a boater that was in distress off of Point Loma during a small craft advisory. The boater’s vessel was experiencing engine troubles and boarded an HPD vessel. The disabled vessel was then towed to a nearby launch ramp.

— HPD responded to an elderly subject who was injured while disembarking from a Hornblower tour vessel.

San Diego Lifeguards are a 24 hour rescue agency whose responsibilities include water rescue, boat rescue, marine fire suppression, coastal cliff rescue, underwater search and recovery, swift water and flood search, rescue and emergency medical response. San Diego Lifeguards also handle enforcement of city, state and federal laws and regulations. Lifeguards are classified as peace officers with the power of arrest.
