Yesterday's dock totals

The fishing has been wide open for the boats out of San Diego Landings this past week with many anglers getting limits of yellowfin tuna and dorado. 1/2 day boats are mostly fishing the kelp edges and flats for the usual rockfish, calico and sand bass. There are some bonito and barracuda around along with some good grade yellowtail to round out exceptional 1/2 day fishing. 3/4 day boats are ranging outside or down off the Coronado Islands for good counts on the yellowfin and dorado. The overnight to multi-day runs are producing large numbers of yellowfin and dorado along with a good showing of skipjack a few bluefin and some yellowtail in the mix. Here are some of the highlights:

El Gato Dos out of Seaforth Sportfishing for a 3/4 day run with 6 anglers aboard reported 30 yellowfin tuna and 5 skipjack tuna caught.

46 anglers aboard the Malihini 3/4 day run out of H&M Landing caught 230 yellowfin tuna, 156 skipjack tuna, 46 dorado and 28 yellowtail. Also out of H&M, the Ranger 85 3.5 day trip with 34 anglers aboard returned to the dock with 15 yellowtail, 531 yellowfin tuna, 169 dorado and 1 bluefin tuna in the hold.

18 anglers aboard the Pegasus for a 3 day trip out of Fisherman's landing boated 16 yellowtail, 224 yellowfin tuna, 1 dorado and 17 bluefin tuna.

The Mission Belle out of Point Loma Sportfishing with 31 anglers aboard their 3/4 day run reported 42 yellowtail, 47 yellowfin tuna, 75 skipjack tuna, 1 halibut and 35 dorado caught.

August 25's dock totals:

Chubasco 2 Sportfishing hosted 31 anglers aboard 1 boat for a total catch of 31 yellowtail, 1 sheephead, 6 sand bass, 97 calico bass, 27 bonito and 1 barracuda.

6 anglers aboard 1 boat out of Dana Landing hefted 2 yellowtail and 18 yellowfin tuna over the rail.

577 yellowfin tuna, 47 dorado, 19 yellowtail, 4 skipjack tuna, 55 calico bass, 7 bonito and 17 bluefin tuna were caught by the 120 anglers aboard 7 boats out of Fisherman's Landing.

H&M Landing sent 295 anglers out aboard 11 boats and reported 625 dorado, 464 skipjack tuna, 1100 yellowfin tuna, 184 yellowtail, 2 sculpin, 42 sand bass, 8 rockfish, 18 calico bass, 5 bonito, 5 barracuda and 1 bluefin tuna caught.

29 anglers aboard 1 boat out of Helgren's Oceanside Sportfishing put 11 yellowtail in the gunnysacks.

154 anglers aboard 8 boats out of Point Loma Sportfishing caught 225 yellowfin tuna, 165 dorado, 82 yellowtail, 104 skipjack tuna, 19 bonito, 105 sand bass and 1 halibut.

Seaforth Sportfishing hosted 307 anglers aboard 11 boats and reported a total catch of 720 yellowfin tuna, 119 dorado, 41 bluefin tuna, 16 yellowtail, 69 skipjack tuna, 11 sand bass, 16 calico bass, 9 bonito, 15 rockfish, 1 halibut, 4 barracuda and 2 sculpin.
