San Diego Symphony: Tastings

  • Thursday, April 9, 2015, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Jacobs Music Center, 750 B Street, San Diego
  • 18+ / Free - $100

Ogawa & Matsuno

The San Diego Symphony is offering a pay-what-you-want sampling of next year's season. The orchestra will be performing sections of the 2015-2016 season.

There will be an open bar. I mean, the bar will be open. It's amazing how rearranging words makes a big difference.

I mention the bar being open because this is a happy hour-type event. The concert is on Thursday, April 9, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Again, this is a pay-what-you-want event. You could pay $40 if you want. Maybe $60 or $80, or you could pay nothing and go enjoy the concert for free.

The operative word there is "go."

The concert will include music from Pictures at an Exhibition, Rhapsody in Blue, and other selections.

There will also be the ubiquitous "craft brew selections."

Meanwhile, La Jolla continues to hum along with a gaggle of events. The Conrad Prebys Center is booked solid with events such as a Japanese composers concert on Thursday, April 9, at 7 p.m., something called Okanogan which involves music and paintings on Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m., and a music and motion concert following that at 8:30 p.m.

Quartet Nouveau is a local string quartet which is making their rounds this weekend with concerts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, at churches and libraries.
