A Lakeside man and his wife were arrested over the weekend after an attempted theft from a Poway Home Depot location ended with 37-year-old Ignacio Brambila wielding a makeshift flame-thrower against employees.
According to a report from sheriff's department Sgt. Chad Boudreau, on September 6, Brambila left the Home Depot store on the 12000 block of Tech Center Drive with a baby carriage loaded with stolen tools. When confronted regarding the alleged theft, Brambila used a lighter and aerosol can to aim flames at employees who had followed him to the parking lot. He then fled in a car driven by his wife Sarrah.
Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop a short while later, at which point the Brambilas were found to be in possession of stolen merchandise. Their 18-month-old child was also present in the vehicle.
The baby, as well as the couple's older twin boys, were placed in protective custody while their parents were jailed on $100,000 bail apiece, with arraignment hearings scheduled for Wednesday, September 10.
