New David Lynch film opens (and closes) Wednesday, September 10

Honest to Pete, there are days when even I get tired of bitching and moaning, but living in a culturally deprived cow town where art is measured by the number of costumed mental patients who pass through the gates of Con leaves me no other course of action.

Had I not been searching out a showtime at the Gaslamp, chances are news of David Lynch’s latest would not have hit my radar until after the fact.

I know what you’re thinking: Duran Duran? They’re going to need to pass out nasal masks and cylindrical tanks filled with what Blue Velvet’s Frank Booth was inhaling in order to get through this. If David Lynch can make forge a masterwork out of an old guy taking a trip on a tractor, a concert doc about a crush band once worshipped by throngs of teenage girls should be a breeze.

Duran Duran: Unstaged screens one night only, Wednesday, September 10, at 7:30 pm. There are four screening venues to choose from: UltraStar’s Hazard Center and Poway 10 and Reading Cinemas’ Town Square and Gaslamp 15.
