Candidate denies sexual harassment charge by former campaign staffer

National political media such as Politico and The Week have picked up yesterday's (October 8) story in which congressional candidate Carl DeMaio vehemently denied a sexual harassment charge made by a former staffer.
As related by the U-T, DeMaio yesterday held a news conference in which he said the charge by a former staffer was "an outrageous lie." DeMaio said the person who made the charge against DeMaio is a suspect in a May burglary of the candidate's campaign office.
"Republican House candidate Carl DeMaio on Wednesday denied allegations that he sexually harassed and then tried to bribe a former staffer," reported The Week.
Politico said the congressional race (against Scott Peters) "descended into chaos" when DeMaio took questions from reporters about the incident.
Politico reached the man against whom DeMaio made the allegations. Said the publication, "A San Diego man named Todd Bosnich said that he was the former staffer making the harassment claims. He denied that he broke into the campaign office. Bosnich, who worked as policy director on DeMaio's congressional campaign, also said that on June 2, he taped a 27-minute interview with a conservative San Diego radio station in which he described in explicit detail how, over the course of more than six months of employment, DeMaio became increasingly aggressive in his sexual behavior toward him. The interview, which was conducted with host Mike Slater and obtained by Politico, never aired. When Bosnich complained about DeMaio's alleged behavior to the candidate's campaign manager, the response was that he shouldn't have told DeMaio he was gay, Bosnich alleged in the radio interview."
Bosnich said he was called into the campaign spokesman's office and told DeMaio had lost trust in him. Bosnich said he was offered $50,000 to sign a nondisclosure agreement, said Politico. Bosnich reportedly turned down the offer.
Said the publication, "Officials at the radio station, 760 KFMB, as well as Slater did not respond to requests for comment."
A DeMaio spokesman said Bosnich had been fired because he had plagiarized material while working on the campaign.
