2014 San Diego Beer Week: Day 1

A comprehensive roundup of San Diego Beer Week events for November 7.

While most publications point to the San Diego Brewers Guild site for a “complete” list of San Diego Beer Week events, doing so means missing out on quite a bit of action around town. Rather than flit about the interwebs in search of the many, many events not included on the SDBW site, check in on San Diego Beer News’ daily coverage of this 10-day salute to local craft beer. As someone just as interested as you are in finding the best of the best, I’ve done the work for you. Cheers, San Diego beer fans!

Friday, November 7

Rare Beer Breakfast: You can ease yourself into Beer Week with a sip there, a gulp there, or go whole hog, as in an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet featuring bacon-dusted ricotta donuts, washed down with a decadent and voluminous assortment of hard-to-find beers from around the world at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens. Day drinking doesn’t get any better. | Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, 1999 Citracado Parkway, Escondido, 9 a.m.

Guild Fest VIP Brewer Takeover: The precursor to the annual tradition that is Guild Fest, this opening night fete features fermentation specialists and extra-special beers from every member company of the San Diego Brewers Guild converging on the San Diego harbor to ring in Beer Week in style with unlimited food and beer tasters. | Port Pavillion at Broadway Pier, 1000 North Harbor Drive, Downtown, 6 p.m.

Freshman Friday: With new breweries opening seemingly every week, it can be tough to get out to experience them all. So, Churchill’s Pub & Grille is getting some standouts from the rookie class including Bagby Beer Company and Toolbox Brewing Company for a welcome-party of sorts featuring several of each brewery’s beers. | Churchill’s Pub & Grille, 887 West San Marcos Boulevard, San Marcos, 7 p.m.
