A fugitive wanted in connection with an armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in El Cajon was apprehended in North Carolina last week (March 13) by U.S. Marshals.
Twenty-six-year-old Conner Douglas Burns is accused of robbing the Bottle Shop Liquor Store in the Fletcher Hills neighborhood in November 2010. During the robbery, Burns allegedly fired rounds into the ceiling of the business to intimidate employees before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. No one was injured during the robbery.
A follow-up investigation led to a known residence of Burns's at the time, where clothing and the firearm used in the robbery were recovered.
Marshals recently learned about an associate of Burns living in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina, area. After setting up surveillance on the residence, Burns was found to be living in a camper on the property. He was arrested without incident and booked into jail without bond, pending extradition back to San Diego.
