As part of its ongoing campaign to encourage water conservation, the San Diego Public Works Department has partnered with Man vs. Wild star Bear Grylls, who famously drank his own urine on an episode of his survival-themed reality show.
"Most studies suggest that human urine can be, um, 'recycled' up to four times before it becomes too concentrated to provide hydration," said SDPWD Spokesman Uwe Gross at a press conference this morning. "We're hoping to encourage San Diegans to 'Be like Bear' and explore this exciting, natural method of water conservation. It's true there is some danger of bacterial growth, but that's easily neutralized with a City-provided 'PP Pill' — available in lemon, pineapple, or mango fruit punch! Just fill your favorite bottle, pop in the pill, shake, and enjoy!"
After an extended silence, Gross reminded the reporters present, "Come on, people, there's a drought on. And nobody wants toilet-to-tap. It's either this or outlaw sprinklers and swimming pools."
