Clean Edge, a clean-tech research firm, yesterday (July 15) published its ranking of states and metro areas in clean-tech commitment and leadership. San Diego ranked third among the largest metro areas, up from seventh last year. San Francisco was first and San Jose second.
The index takes into account such factors as electric vehicles, adoption of renewable technologies, and clean-tech patents and investments.
San Francisco ran away with the scoring at 94.4, about the same as California's 93.7. Among metro areas, San Jose scored 79.7 and San Diego 66.3.
