The San Diego District Tennis Association last week began soliciting donations for its third annual National Tennis Camp for Wounded Warriors, to take place in San Diego the week of May 19–25.
"This event is a part of a proven program that has provided tennis-based rehabilitation to over 600 wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans from all the military branches to aid in their physical and emotional recoveries since 2009," reads a release put out by the group, which is a local extension of the U.S. Tennis Association.
Naval Medical Center San Diego and the Balboa Tennis Club will also play host to the event, which aims to fly in 50 debilitated service members for training and help adapt their games to accommodate service-related injuries. The fully sponsored participants will have airfare, lodging, meals, and equipment, including sport wheelchairs, covered through donations.
