Monday 8
Get your swing happening with the Palomar College Big Bands under the direction of Paul Seaforth when they play at Dizzy’s (4275 Mission Bay Drive) at 7:30 p.m. $15 at the door.

Tuesday 9
Earl Thomas & the Rhumboogies star in the KSDS Jazz Live production, with Marcus Bayshore, Eric Lieberman, Larry Logan, Scot Smart and Jonny Viau at the Saville Theatre (14th & C Street) from 8:00 p.m. free to Jazz 88 members, $10 general admission.

Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos presents the Young Lions Series at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) this week featuring saxophonist Kyle Myers with Hugo Suarez, Jerome Salazar and Marco Leong, 7:00 p.m. $5 cover. Then he’s off to host the Latin Jam at Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue) at 9:00 p.m. no cover, musicians bring your horns! … the KSDS Blues Jam is going down at Proud Mary’s (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) with host J. Otis Williams and guitar-slinger Mark Augustin from 6:30 p.m. free and family friendly… saxophonist Lou Damian and drummer Nathan Hubbard play Alchemy (1503 30th Street) at 8:30 p.m. for free.

The Mark Dresser Quintet featuring flutist Nicole Mitchell, trombonist Michael Dessen, pianist Joshua White and drummer Kjell Nordeson make a rare hometown appearance at Dizzy’s, 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door … trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos plays with guitarist Joey Carano and bassist Rob Thorsen at the intimate Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) at 8:00 p.m. no cover charge, but there is a $20 food/drink minimum.

LA saxophonist Charles Owens hits Dizzy’s with Joshua White, Marshall Hawkins and Brett Sanders at 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door … Gilbert Castellanos presents A Tribute to the Latin Jazz Legends at the Horton Grand Theater (444 Fourth Avenue) at 8:00 p.m. $20 at the door … Son Pa Ti with Alex Lopez, Mark Lopez, Alberto Diaz, and Juan Santana play the Turquoise (873 Turquoise Street) from 9:00 p.m. free … the Allison Adams Tucker Quintet with David Borgo, Danny Green, Justin Grinnell and Julien Cantelm, plus a cappella group the Tritones are hitting at The Loft (911 Lyman Lane) at 7:00 p.m. $17 at the door.
