Bassist Ben Wanicur and his trio featuring Ian Tordella on saxophone and Charles Weller on drums host the monthly jam session at 3rd Space (4610 Park Boulevard) at 8:00 p.m. for a $5 entry fee. Musicians are encouraged to sit in.

Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos starts his busy night by hosting the Young Lions Series at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) this week featuring pianist Chance Valdez beginning at 7:00 p.m. for a $5 cover. He’ll play the first set, then motor on over to the Latin Jam Session at Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue) where he convenes with Irving Flores, Rob Thorsen, Mike Holguin, and Charlie Chavez at 9:00 p.m. no cover charge, musicians bring your horns! … the Patrick Berrogain Duo are performing at Solare Ristorante (2820 Roosevelt Road, Liberty Station) from 5:00 p.m. Free! … J.
