Bassist Ben Wanicur hosts his monthly jam session at 3rd Space (4610 Park Avenue) with pianist Jason Shattil and drummer Duncan Moore at 8:00 p.m. for a $5 cover. Musicians are encouraged to sit in.

Wednesday 6
You can catch trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos who is presenting Sahara Grim as this week’s artist in the Young Lions Series at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue). He’ll play the first set at 7:00 p.m., $5 cover, then head to North Park for the Latin jam session at Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue). The music starts at 9:00 p.m., 21+ no cover charge.

There’s a new venue catering to jazz, and Besos de Coco featuring Lorraine Castellanos on guitar and vocals, Evona Wascinski on bass, and tap artist Claudia Gomez are this week’s attraction at Ortega’s Bistro (141 University Avenue) starting at 7:00 p.m… Novamenco is doing that three-guitar flamenco thing at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) at 7:00 p.m. $13 at the door… Gilbert Castellanos and the Park West Ensemble with pianist Joshua White, bassist Dean Hulett and drummer Ryan Shaw are doing it at Croce’s Park West at 7:00 p.m. for a $5 cover.

Cummings, Jeff Kelley and Kiki Cornejo, along with the Sure Fire Soul Ensemble with Tim & Sheryll Felten, Bill Caballero, Jesse Aduelo, Nicholas Costa, Matthew LaBarber, Peter Williams and Kiki Cornejo. It all starts at 9:30 p.m., $8 at the door … Son Pa Ti with Alex Lopez, Mark Lopez, Juan Santana and Alberto Diaz play the Turquoise (873 Turquoise Street) at 8:30 p.m., no cover charge.
