A Vista man was arrested early Sunday morning following a drunken escapade that left several cars parked near the Wave Water Park significantly damaged from vandalism.
Shortly before midnight, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the park's parking lot on Wave Drive to investigate reports of two males jumping on and violently kicking several unoccupied vehicles.
Deputies arriving on scene found "two males stumbling in the parking lot," according to a report from sergeant Nick Maryn. "Both subjects displayed signs and symptoms of intoxication."
While questioning the pair, the witness who'd called in the report arrived and positively identified 27-year-old Christian Ruiz Lopez as the person who had been directly observed vandalizing cars. Lopez was arrested on five separate counts of vandalism.
