A $4.3 million renovation is under way at the former Quality Inn at 751 Raintree Drive in Carlsbad. After the facelift is complete, the three-story, 125-room hotel will become a Holiday Inn Express.
The construction improvements began in January and the hotel is expected to reopen for business by the end of July, according to Joey Blagg, general contractor with Prime Group Construction, Inc.
“It was built in 1985 and hadn’t been renovated from the ground up,” Blagg said.
More than 13,000 square feet are being added to the lobby area, and the hotel’s layout is transforming from an exterior corridor to an interior corridor that will enclose the stairways. Blagg said the changes aim to offer more security and convenience to guests.
The hotel is located just west of Interstate 5 and north of Poinsettia Lane.
