At around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, a Toyota sedan ran out of gas and stalled along Sports Arena Boulevard., near the corner of Midway Drive. As traffic backed up in the Midway District, drivers were getting testy and horns started to honk.
Then, two SDPD cruisers showed up and lit up their lights. They blocked the lane where the Toyota sat. When the traffic light turned green, one patrol car got right behind the car and pushed it — bumper to bumper — gently around the corner and safely into the parking lot near the U-Haul business.
