When The Fooks began their set at the Blarney Stone three hours prior to St. Paddy's day, singer/guitarist Kirk O’Brien slurred into the microphone, "We are by no means sober. This is our third show of the day."
The Fooks—Scott Johnson — fiddle, Gary Patrick-bass guitar, Kirk O’Brien — vocals, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, and Dale Peters — drums
Being an Irish band, the Fooks were in high demand over St.Patrick's Day weekend. They played a total of nine shows in three days. I imagine they're recovering this morning.
Kirk Riley claims to be the Fook’s biggest fan. He dresses as a leprechaun every St. Patrick’s Day. When asked how easy it is to pick up the ladies in such a getup, his response was:
"I already have a girlfriend, so it’s not a problem."
When not posing as a leprechaun, Riley works for Young's Market Company in Spirits/Wines sales.
Andi Violaris honored St. Patrick, the man who single handedly drove all the snakes out of Ireland, by donning red hair and an itsy-bitsy green top hat.
"I'm not Irish, but please don't tell anyone. I don't want everyone to hate me,” said the 32-year-old Brit.
Overeager fan, Shara Stewart, accidentally kicked bassist, Gary Patrick, in the face while attempting to pose for a photo.
The Fooks will perform at the Field on Friday March 22nd, and the Blarney Stone in Clairemont on Saturday the 23rd.
