At Fashion Valley Mall, I ran into three women with their own unique take on denim.
Twenty-six-year-old Missy Harper used denim as a subtle backdrop for her jewelry and leather ankle boots. Harper works at Lucky Jean Company so everything she wore was Lucky other than her Tiffany Bead Bracelet ($200), Hand in Hand Kate Spade Idiom Bangle ($58), Tiffany heart lock bracelet ($350) Michael Kors watch, and B.P necklace.
Her leather Lucky Brand boots retail for [$129][4]. When asked what are least favorite fashion statement is, Harper’s response was, “Hammer pants. I can’t stand them!”
Yesenia Godinez
Meanwhile Yesenia Godinez took a less subtle approach with her denim. The 20-year-old cosmetologist/florist wore mustard yellow Urban Outfitters BDG jeans (retails for $39) paired with a stripped crop top. Her faux pearl and rhinestone earrings are from Forever 21 ($1.80).
Everything Godinez wore, including her purse, was raided from her roommate’s closet. Her top, once a too-small-for-her dress, was recently hacked in half transforming it into a belly-baring tank top.
Godinez’s favorite store is Urban Outfitters.

Jessica Clum channeled the 1960’s in her flower child peasant top, lace headpiece, and denim cut-off short-shorts.
The 19-year-old works as a sales clerk at the Fashion Valley Urban Outfitters. Her floral shirt is by Pins and Needles and retails for $59. She wore a Pins And Needles Lace-Trimmed Bandeau ($16 or 2 for $20) . Clum's shorts are American Eagle and her headband is from Francesca’s ($12) .
Her least favorite current trend are chunky wedges AKA stripper heels.
