Outsider art and music outpost Stay Strange is taking part in a experimental music festival at the Malcolm X Library (Valencia Park) on Saturday, September 21.
“It's been a dream of mine to host a show at a San Diego library for quite a while now,” says Stay Strange organizer and noise musician Sam Lopez (Zsa Zsa Gabor).
“The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Although not technically a Stay Strange event, the line-up has quite a few Stay Strange alumni: Author & Punisher (who will be fresh off of his tour supporting Pantera vocalist, Phil Anselmo), avant-jazzist Nathan Hubbard with Louis Damian, sonic explorer Scott Nielsen, and abstract turntablist Tenshun.”
Also on the bill is fusion illusionists, Swarmius, noise trio Bald Beast (Monochromacy's Esteban Flores, Mortar guitarist James Flynn, and Stay Strange’s Sam Lopez), Dave Krysl and Trevor Jones, and the celebrated spoken word artist Reg E. Gaines.
The Malcolm X Experimental Music Festival is free and starts at 3 p.m.
