Sometimes one mattress is not enough for one pickup truck. How about 21 of them?
My neighbor rescues mattresses (and many other things) bound for landfills and donates them to folks in Mexico who can use them. He pokes a mattress a couple of feet above our heads and asks, “What’s wrong with this mattress? Nothing! Perfectly good.”
I have to ask: “Don’t the cops pull you over with this many mattresses?”
“No, I’m totally legal, under the height and weight limit for the truck. I’ve even got the extra-heavy-duty truck tires. Once I install the extra bars over the cab, I’ll be able to put five more mattresses up there.”
“Have you ever lost one (or more)? “
“No. See those straps? Those are compression straps. These guys who use rope and twine, they are the problem.”
He will be making the run to Mexico in a couple of hours. I wish him good luck.
