Tyrone Crawford spends most days with a clipboard attempting to educate people about the environment as a Greenpeace canvasser. I found him on the PB Boardwalk enjoying his day off.
Crawford is a thrift shop connoisseur . He wore his great-great-grandfather's sweater and a thrifted gold watch
His favorite wardrobe items is his extensive collection of boots.
"I like odd boots, like Eskimo boots. I just found a pair of old Ipath boots at a Buffalo Exchange type store. They were a great score," The 27-year-old San Diego native told me.
I found 21-year-old Jaymi Williams at Brandy Melville, a popular beach boutique located off the boardwalk in PB. Williams wore vintage inspired cut-off denim shorts from Urban Outfitters, Steve Madden boots, and a sweater and crop top (retails for $30), both from American Apparel.
Niki Mossato sells her art work every Wednesday at the OB Farmers Market. The dreadlocked 19-year-old is originally from Costa Rica. She wore a thrifted crop top and pants from an Ocean Beach boutique, Dreamgirls.
When I spotted Darryl Baker on the boardwalk in PB he had a goldfish cracker in his mouth and was attempting to feed a pigeon with it. Baker wore an elaborate handmade flower crown. He had a notebook in his hand.
When I asked what he was working on he told me, "Bumper sticker ideas."
Baker is a homeless artist. In his opinion housing is unnecessary. "Home is where the heart is," he told me.
