A man was arrested for a DUI in Ocean Beach on the evening of September 16.
Arresting SDPD officer J. Wilson said the suspect, who was around 50 years old, was driving with a suspended license for a previous DUI. Officers were alerted after a 911 call came in, letting them know someone was driving erratically in the neighborhood.
The suspect pulled into the beach parking lot next to the new bathrooms and parked in a handicapped spot, for which he had a placard. He was starting to pull out of the spot when officers pulled in behind him and told him to step out of his car.
The suspect was given a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer test, which he was told he could refuse. He opted to do it and blew a .31. The legal limit in California is .08.
The suspect had a passenger in his van, and officers told him he was free to go but that the car was going to be impounded.
