A suspect who robbed a Loma Portal gas station on Wednesday, November 14, at around 10:00 p.m. was still on the loose Thursday afternoon.
The Shell gas station on the corner of West Point Loma Boulevard and Adrian Street was held up by a man who displayed a gun in his jacket to threaten the clerk.
The thief forced the female employee into the bathroom and told her to “lock the door and not come out," according to an unidentified employee. After she left, the criminal ransacked the gas station, taking cash and cigarettes. He then ran off into the night.
The clerk I spoke with on the morning of November 14 told me they felt like they "had been staked out" before the crime occurred and that the female clerk who was robbed was "very shook up" by the incident.
This is not the first time the gas station has been robbed. A man armed with a box-cutter held up the station in June 2010; four months earlier, in February, another gun-wielding crook stole money and got away.
