A 34-year-old man was arrested at the Walgreens store located at 3005 Midway Drive early Saturday, May 5, after he allegedly stabbed another person in the head at a nearby apartment complex. The suspect also attempted to rob the Walgreens of drugs, San Diego police said.
An unidentified Walgreens employee said that the suspect was "agitated and pacing back and forth near the pharmacy, demanding Oxycontin." At one point, the suspect jumped behind the pharmacy counter and the pharmacist jumped away and ran off. The suspect rummaged around the pharmacy, creating a mess. Police soon arrived and tackled the suspect as he tried to run away and arrested him at gunpoint.
Police said the suspect used a pocketknife to pry open an entryway to an apartment in the 3200 block of Rosecrans Street. He allegedly then argued and fought with the residents, stabbing a 50-year-old man. The stabbing victim was hospitalized and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
