Photo taken over Ocotillo at 9 a.m. on June 29.
Construction has begun on over 100 turbine towers, each over 400 feet tall, on Bureau of Land Management land between the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Interstate 8.
The area, where I have dry-camped many times, is now being torn up with access roads and construction sites, including portable offices, a huge water pond to keep down the dust, cranes, and heavy equipment.
There is a coalition of folks opposed to the project, and they are still fighting in court to stop the erection of the towers.
