Winchell's Donuts in Point Loma has had an unsightly problem for a while. Channel 10 News reported on June 23 that a car had gone through the front window of the shop located at 1501 Rosecrans Street.
As of August 29, the plate glass window has not yet been replaced, a piece of plywood covers part of the storefront, and old caution tape flutters in the breezy car exhaust fumes from the busy adjacent thoroughfare.
The store manager said "insurance issues" are tying up the completion of repairs. She admitted customers constantly inquire about what happened and why it has taken so long to fix the mess.
She said Winchell's supervisors were recently in town to pow-wow with insurance adjusters and that she expects repairs to be finalized soon.
