It’s not exactly the way Leonardo da Vinci got his start, but the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is looking for an “artist in residence,” to be paid “not to exceed” $8000 for three months, included in a total “estimated bid value” of $118,000, to come up with flight-related art. “The ultimate goal of this project is for an artist to create an artwork that will stimulate an intentional and ongoing dialogue with the local and traveling communities through the creation and installation of site-specific art,” according a request for qualifications of potential artists on the authority’s website. “The most successful outcome will result in an appropriate and meaningful project that will convey the vision of the Authority while providing creative interpretation and insight [into] the day-to-day operations of the Airport.” Deadline is November 4.
