Before the Denver Broncos played the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium on November 27, Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow made the Sunday-morning service at the Rock Church in Point Loma.
Called "the Chosen One" by ESPN Sports, Tebow openly proclaims his Christianity. Every Broncos game brings a wave of media interest for the quarterback.
Rock Church pastor Miles McPherson did the Broncos’ Saturday-night chapel service and invited any interested Broncos to attend Sunday. Tebow arrived for the 8:00 a.m. service and sat quietly in the back. It was “Wired for Love Quiz” day, and the pastor reviewed previous sermons on the subject.
When word leaked that Tebow was at the church, news stations showed up, but by then he had headed back to the team's Mission Valley hotel.
McPherson reiterated at the 10:00 a.m. service that Tebow "sold out for God" and has a sincere testimony. The pastor also mentioned that "God is doing a major work with Tim Tebow in the NFL."
The Chargers missed an overtime kick that would have won them the game; they lost their sixth consecutive game, 16-13
