Rancho Santa Fe–based political fund-raiser Karolyn Dorsee spent the first half of this year collecting cash for the GOP’s New Majority California PAC, which is out to “broaden the appeal of the Republican Party.” Dorsee received a total of $15,745.77 for her services. Meantime, the Lodge at Torrey Pines, owned by the staunchly Republican Evans family, has done very well by the California Democratic state central committee, which spent $232,976 there on fund-raising events from January through June. La Jolla appears to be a popular venue for state Democrats, who also paid $16,110 to Torrey Pines Hilton for fund-raising events in March and anted up another $27,264 in fees to the City of San Diego’s Park and Recreation Department for fund-raising events in La Jolla.
