At its March 22 meeting, the Adams Recreation Council approved the final long-term plan for Ward Canyon Neighborhood Park, located at Adams Avenue and 40th Street.
Approximately 20 residents attended the presentation by the Schmidt Design Group. The plan will include space for full-court basketball/volleyball, a relocated community services building, and an off-leash dog park of 14,900 square feet.
Amenities suggested at the council's January 25 meeting were added to the final plan. These include additional parking along 39th and 40th streets, three exercise/workout stations, and an area of 11,300 square feet set aside for a future community garden at the south end of the park.
No preliminary cost estimate is available, but all the upgrades could be accomplished in phases, as funds become available. The next meeting in the approval process will be heldApril 13 at the War Memorial building in Balboa Park.
