Last Friday, the only witnesses to a snatch-and-grab robbery outside the Fashion Kiss Boutique in La Mesa was a mannequin named Bianca...and a surveillance camera.
Fashion Kiss owner Michella Dresselhuys installed a surveillance camera in her store earlier this year, after her mannequin named Franchesca was stolen in December. The camera’s viewfinder takes in the sidewalk in front of the store, where Dresselhuys has an outdoor display rack.
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on June 10, Dresselhuys’s camera captured images of a young man wearing a ball cap and sunglasses as he approached the outdoor display rack. The man grabbed half the items off the rack before driving away in a white, four-door car.
"I submitted some photos taken from the surveillance camera footage to the police department and they are looking out for this car," said a frustrated Dresselhuys. "I want other merchants in the area to know what can happen in broad daylight."
