With all the hubbub surrounding the destruction of that bombmaker’s house in Escondido, it comes as no surprise that the San Diego sheriff’s department is in the market for a new “Law Enforcement Bomb Truck,” complete with robot, to equip its bomb/arson division. Based on a recent request for proposal posted on the County’s bid site, the heavy-duty vehicle will be chock-full of technology that would make Dick Tracy jealous, including “Three (3) Sigtronic headsets…Two (2) color flat panel TV’s ….A bracket and docking station, for a Panasonic Toughbook 19…Cabinet for Robot storage…A Robot fiber optic connection point…One (1) Sony Bravia 32˝ flat screen TV shall be installed on cabinet #3. This TV shall be wired to the Laptop in cabinet #8 displaying images from the x-ray machine, and the cable TV connection…Remotec Camera [connected] to three (3) TV monitors and Remotec monitor…Intec Camera through DVDR…One (1) Eclipse AVN726E navigational system shall be installed and mounted in the chassis cab. …The atomic clock shall be installed on the face of the cabinet.”
