At around 10 a.m. on April 15, two accidents occurred around the same time near Interstate 8 in the Ocean Beach/Point Loma area.
San Diego police closed off the 4600 block of Nimitz Boulevard (which leads to Interstate 8) after a Lexus SUV flipped over on the side of the road. Ambulances, fire trucks, and a tow truck responded. The scene was cleaned up quickly and things soon resumed to normal on Nimitz Boulevard.
However, while the freeway entrance was closed, detoured traffic clogged West Point Loma Boulevard as drivers made their way to the freeway entrance near the Sports Arena. The street was flooded with cars for about half and hour.
In Ocean Beach, meanwhile, a motorcycle accident caused trouble for motorists around the same time. Police remained into the lunch hour at the Sunset Cliffs Boulevard exit from Interstate 8, investigating the accident.
