After a decline in grisly displays of drug-related violence, the decapitated corpses of two men were found hanging from a bridge over the Tijuana-Rosarito highway early on October 11.
Bound hand and foot, the bodies dangled upside down over motorists as they passed under the Pemex bridge located in the vicinity of the Santa Fe district on the outskirts of TJ.
The men, both estimated to be in their 20s, showed signs of torture and likely died of multiple gunshot wounds. The men’s heads were found in boxes in the back of a Toyota pickup truck that had been abandoned nearby. One of the heads was swathed in baby clothes.
A “narcomensaje” scrawled on a piece of cardboard was stuck in one of the windows of the truck. This is not the first time that bridges along the route to Rosarito have been used to display corpses.
The number of murders in Tijuana for the month of October rose to 26; for the year, the tally has reached 633.
