On October 9 at 6:30 p.m., “porn pastor” Craig Gross of XXXChurch in Las Vegas and porn king Ron Jeremy debated at the Rock Church in Liberty Station. Pastor Miles McPherson made several comical attempts to spray Jeremy with supposed holy water and forgave him for his racy utterances.
The format allowed each debater to issue a 15-minute introduction before taking questions from audience members. This is where it got juicy: Gross mused that his virginity upon marriage had some effect on his machismo level; Jeremy admitted he might steer his daughter away from a porn career in favor of college first.
Gross reiterated how damaging porn is to the young minds who watch it. Later on in life, said Gross, males have trouble connecting with women as persons because their consumption of porn has debased them to the "humanity of real women."
Jeremy dismissed Gross’s assertion and exclaimed, "Porn is just entertainment." He said people can watch porn responsibly and enjoy it, that it is a business like any other.
An interesting fact that I enjoyed was Jeremy saying that the fastest growing market segment of porn these days is storylines featuring the escapades of “cougars and MILFs” seducing younger men!
The Rock sanctuary was overflowing with rapt listeners. In fact, the interest from the community was so great, some citizens had to be turned away at the door.
