A Fallbrook sheriff's deputy who encountered two people on a street corner discovered stolen items and burglary tools on March 16.
Deputy Andrew Brumfield stopped to question Vanessa Paredez, 27, as she stood outside of a parked car with Ivan Trujillo, 20, on the corner of Kalmia Street and North Main Avenue. Brumfield recognized Paredez from her prior contacts with the law and knew she was on parole with a fourth waiver.
“Paredez admitted to being in possession of marijuana,” according to lieutenant Phil Brust of the Fallbrook sheriff's substation. Brumfield also found her in possession of a stolen credit card. Trujillo had a stolen GPS device, which Brumfield recognized from a robbery report he'd taken earlier. Trujillo also allegedly had tools commonly used to commit burglaries.
Trujillo and Paredez were subsequently booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Paredez is charged with possession of stolen property valued over $950, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Trujillo, who was in violation of his probation, was charged with possession of stolen property, burglary tools, and burglary, according to the sheriff's department. Both suspects have bails set at $20,000.
