“Mira Mesa Welcomes You” banners hanging on light posts around the community may soon be replaced with a new logo and slogan. Instead of welcoming visitors and residents to the suburban neighborhood with a generic message, Mira Mesa is trying to unite the community by asking people to join an effort to find a slogan and logo with a common community vision.
Starting this March, the Mira Mesa Nonprofit Executive Council will begin the process by looking to Mira Mesa High School students for logo submissions. Two student winners will be selected and their logos will move forward to compete in a community-wide contest that begins in mid-April.
A slogan will also be picked by June, soon after the winning logo is decided. A prize of at least $250 is expected to be awarded to the winner of the community contest. The logo and slogan will be used to promote a Mira Mesa Community Vision branding campaign.
“Now is the time for Mira Mesa to come together, to determine our future,” states miramesacommunityvision.org, a website that was created for the initiative.
