Two reports of rape have the community surrounding the SDSU campus a little on edge.
On Sunday at approximately 1:00 a.m., a female reported to police that she had been able to evade an attempted rape. According to a police report, the woman — who occupied a residence off-campus near 55th Street and Mary Lane — said that a male suspect broke into her home and tried to rape her. The victim said that she was able to escape and the perpetrator got away in a white pickup truck.
The perpetrator was described as a Hispanic male, 26 to 30 years old, 5’4” with a stocky build, wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black boots.
Later that morning, just after 3:00 a.m., another female victim reported that she had been raped at an off-campus party. The location of the assault was less than a mile east of the first incident, also off-campus, near Montezuma Road and 64rd Street. A police report indicated that the female victim claimed that she was drugged at a party.
Police have not released a suspect description for the second incident. It is unknown if both incidents are related.
