Shortly after 7:00 a.m. on July 12, flames erupted in the attached garage of a three-bedroom home in the 1000 block of South Mollison Avenue.
Heartland Fire & Rescue (an association of El Cajon, La Mesa, and Lemon Grove fire departments) immediately responded to control the blaze and SDG&E emergency crews arrived to provide access and secure the utility connections.
The fire quickly spread and destroyed the entire 800-square-foot residence. The resident escaped uninjured with two dogs; a vehicle in the driveway was a total loss. The estimated damage to the structure was reportedly $350,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
