Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on July 1, a truck crashed into two separate residences on the 6200 block of Camino Lago Vista. The truck had come down a steep street, blew through a stop sign at the bottom, and plowed through one garage and landed in the garage of the adjacent home.
Fire-and-rescue personnel and police quickly responded and extricated the female driver, who was then transported to the hospital with a minor head injury. The owner of the first residence struck was taking a nap inside at the time of the crash and was uninjured; no one in the other home was injured.
Two gas lines were severed and a fire started in the first house, spreading to the attic and roof. Fire crews immediately knocked it down and SDG&E workers worked fast to cap off and secure lines. Residents in the surrounding homes were evacuated by police, as there was a concern for the potential of an explosion and fire.
The behavior of the driver after the crash indicated alcohol may have been a factor and appropriate testing was completed. Presumably, the driver was arrested after receiving medical treatment.
