On Tuesday afternoon, when heavy rains flooded a section of North Torrey Pines Road near Torrey Pines Scenic Drive, the driver of a silver compact was left stranded, according to San Diego police Capt. Chris Ball.
"He went into the water, the engine stalled, and the driver just simply abandoned the vehicle," Ball said. Hours after the incident, police directing traffic around the flooded intersection had yet to hear from the driver.
"We do not know where the driver is," Ball said. "At some point, when a tow-truck driver gets here, we're going to tow that vehicle...."
