Controversial La Jolla lawyer Jim Waring, who once represented the daughter of the late mafioso Moe Dalitz and was later forced out as Mayor Jerry Sanders’s land-use honcho during Sunroad Enterprises’ over-height office-tower fiasco back in August 2007, gave $450 to the city council campaign of ex–Democratic assemblyman Howard Wayne. Meanwhile, Aaron Feldman, the developer behind Sunroad, gave $500 to the state senate campaign of Juan Vargas in December.
