Just after 9:30PM last night (December 13), a fire broke out in the floor of a three-story condominium complex in the 3700 block of Alabama Street. Firefighters and paramedics were on the scene within minutes and after primary entry found a man lying unconscious in the front room. The man was transported by paramedics to the hospital in serious condition. Investigators determined the fire was caused by a candle in a bedroom. Surrounding units were evacuated and adjacent upper and lower units suffered smoke/water damage with total structure damage estimated at $150,000.
