A suspected burglar was arrested after a random tandem bike ride in El Cajon on April 22.
The 35-year-old parolee allegedly marketed the stolen bicycle on Craigslist after the owners reported it stolen from a Rancho San Diego trailer, along with several other items on April 18.
Detectives from the Lemon Grove sheriff's station followed up on a lead from the owners, who said they saw an ad for their bike on the website. While conducting surveillance on Graves Avenue, detectives spotted two women riding the tandem bike and a man following closely behind on another bicycle.
Deputies from the Santee sheriff's station tried to help detain them, but the male suspect fled to a nearby apartment complex where he was located hiding in a bedroom. He was apprehended for violating parole, according to Jeff Maxin.
Further investigation of the apartment revealed other stolen property, including items from the burglarized trailer, 17 electric guitars, believed to be stolen from a music store in Santee, and tools commonly used to commit burglaries.
