On April 12, a little before 2:00 p.m., the driver of a construction truck with a heavy load of concrete and wood debris failed to negotiate the curve of the Broadway off-ramp from eastbound highway 94. It was speculated that the truck tipped over on its side when the load shifted while the driver was making the tight turn.
Emergency units from the Lemon Grove Fire Department and California Highway Patrol quickly responded to the accident. The driver was immediately taken by paramedics for treatment of his injuries, believed to be non-life-threatening. Traffic from the off-ramp and Broadway Avenue was rerouted while emergency units and cleanup crews from the fire department and construction company attended to the scene.
Within a couple hours, the area was back to normal and traffic on Broadway and the off-ramp was flowing as usual.
